A reminder of Kyoto in Spring. I made this as a hand-painted postcard for a friend during one of my visit to Kyoto. It depicts the view of a Pagoda style Temple during the Cherry Blossom season.

NIPONIA #2 Haru no Torii
Torii are the gate to the spiritual world. They are mostly found at the entrances of Shinto Shrines across Japan. Passing through a Torri gate, signifies a symbolic transition from the world of the mundane to the sacred world of the spirits.

Kinkaku-ji, the Temple of the Golden Pavillion, is a Zen Buddhist Temple in Kyoto. Officially named Rokuon-ji (Deer Garden Temple), it is one of the most important Historic sites in Kyoto, and one of my favourite places to visit.
